Former Alabama quarterback Paul Tyson, the great grandson of Bear Bryant, has returned to Clemson as a member of the coaching staff after a brief stint as a player-coach last season. Tyson suited up as the emergency quarterback for the Tigers during the 2023 season, completing 3-of-4 passes for 42 yards and a touchdown in two appearances. He previously played for Alabama and Arizona State before transferring to Clemson in December 2022.
Clemson’s quarterback position looks strong for the upcoming 2025 season, with Cade Klubnik returning after an impressive 2024 campaign. Klubnik passed for 3,639 yards, 36 touchdowns, and only six interceptions, while also showing his running abilities with 463 yards and seven touchdowns. Tyson, who served as Klubnik’s back-up at times last season, is now focused solely on coaching.
