A man attempted to divert a domestic Mexican flight to the United States, causing the Mexican National Guard to detain him. The incident occurred on Volaris Flight 3041 from Guanajuato to Tijuana, where the man assaulted a flight attendant and tried to enter the cockpit. Crew members were able to subdue him and the pilot landed the plane in Guadalajara, where the man was handed over to authorities. Volaris stated that their crew followed safety procedures and that all passengers and crew members were unharmed. The 31-year-old man, who was traveling with his wife and children, claimed that a close relative had been kidnapped and that he had received a threat warning him not to go to Tijuana. Mexican authorities, specifically the Federal Public Ministry and Attorney General’s Office, will oversee the case. The man is a Mexican national and will face consequences for his actions. Despite the scare caused by the man’s attempt to divert the flight, everyone on board the Volaris flight was safe, and the plane eventually continued on to its final destination as planned.
