Child victims of recent protests in Bangladesh spark international concern
In recent protests in Bangladesh, several children lost their lives due to violence that erupted between student protesters and security forces. Four-year-old Abdul Ahad, 10-year-old Hossein Mia, six-year-old Riya Gop, and 11-year-old Safqat Samir, among others, were tragically killed during the clashes.
Abdul was shot while standing on his balcony, while Hossein was hit by bullets while playing in his neighbourhood. Riya was struck in the head by a stray bullet, and Safqat was killed by a bullet that entered his home.
The deaths of these children have led to calls for accountability and justice. The interim government, with Nobel laureate Muhammad Yunus as the chief adviser, has pledged to investigate the alleged human rights violations during the protests.
Families of the deceased children are mourning their losses, calling for a proper investigation into the killings. They express anguish over the senseless deaths of their innocent children and question who will give them justice.
As the UN prepares to launch an investigation, the families hope for answers and justice for their children. Despite their grief, they remain determined to seek accountability and ensure that their children’s deaths do not go unnoticed. The international community is closely watching the situation in Bangladesh, urging authorities to address the violence and protect the rights of all citizens.
