Former Alabama tight end O.J. Howard, who spent seven seasons in the NFL with teams like the Tampa Bay Buccaneers and the Las Vegas Raiders, has been hired as the new director of player development at West Alabama. Howard, a native of Alabama, will join a coaching staff led by former Alabama strength and conditioning coach Scott Cochran.
Howard, who won a national title with the Crimson Tide in 2015 and was named the Offensive MVP of the game, brings a wealth of experience and expertise to his new role. He also won a Super Bowl with the Buccaneers in 2020 during his time in the NFL.
The West Alabama coaching staff now consists of three former Alabama players, including Howard, Thomas Fletcher, Blake Sims, and Ronnie Clark. Their combined experience and knowledge of the game are expected to be an asset to the team as they continue their pursuit of success.
Howard was recently spotted watching the Carver vs. Enterprise game at Cramton Bowl in Montgomery, Ala., showcasing his continued interest and involvement in football. Fans and supporters are eager to see how his contributions will impact West Alabama’s development and success in the upcoming seasons.
