Tuscaloosa City Council Member Announces Candidacy for Alabama House District 63
Tuscaloosa, AL – Norman Crow, a current member of the Tuscaloosa City Council representing District 3, has officially declared his candidacy for the soon-to-be-vacant Alabama House of Representatives District 63 seat. His announcement on Thursday positions him as the first candidate to enter the race, following State Rep. Cynthia Almond’s impending resignation to lead the Public Service Commission.
In his campaign, Crow emphasizes his diverse background in business, education, and civic leadership. He aims to leverage his expertise in job creation and fiscal management, promoting a platform centered around accountability and measurable results for his constituents.
A Tuscaloosa native, Crow has had a significant career in the energy sector, serving in leadership roles at several notable companies, including Southern Natural Gas and Duke Energy. In addition to his energy industry experience, he founded DT Freight, a local transportation company, and currently operates as a licensed real estate agent with Hamner Real Estate.
Crow’s civic involvement includes a tenure on the Tuscaloosa City Board of Education and leadership positions with organizations such as the Boys & Girls Club of West Alabama and the United Way of West Alabama. He has also chaired the West Alabama Chamber of Commerce, demonstrating his commitment to community service.
House District 63, which encompasses much of downtown Tuscaloosa and the University of Alabama, is considered vital for representing the city’s interests in Montgomery. The seat will be vacated on June 15, and Governor Kay Ivey is expected to announce a special election date shortly.
