The original Aloha Stadium, which opened on September 12, 1975, has been an iconic venue in Hawaiian sports history. It notably hosted not only the NFL’s Pro Bowl and college football’s Hula Bowl but also the Hawaii Bowl and served as the home field for Hawaii football from 1975 until its closure in December 2020. That closure marked the end of an era, bringing an end to a beloved sports landmark after 45 years.
