Nebraska High School Quarterback Switches Commitment from Iowa State to Alabama

Press Article: Jett Thomalla Flips Commitment to Alabama

In a significant shift within the college football recruitment landscape, Jett Thomalla, a standout quarterback from Nebraska, has flipped his commitment from Iowa State to Alabama. Previously committed to the Cyclones earlier this year, the Omaha native reassessed his options following visits and interest from top programs.

Thomalla, regarded by On3 as one of the nation’s top 15 quarterback prospects in the Class of 2026, has made a remarkable mark at Millard South. Over the last two seasons, he has amassed over 6,000 passing yards and 73 touchdowns, completing almost 65 percent of his attempts. His junior year was particularly stellar; he not only earned the title of MaxPreps Nebraska Player of the Year but also set state records with 3,664 passing yards and 47 touchdowns.

Initially choosing Iowa State over offers from prominent programs including Iowa, Arizona, and Missouri, Thomalla’s recruitment took a turn when Alabama’s coaching staff, led by Kalen DeBoer, expressed interest. The allure of competing in the Southeastern Conference (SEC) proved irresistible, leading Thomalla to become the first quarterback commit and sixth overall player for Alabama’s 2026 recruiting class.

Thomalla, an Elite 11 finalist, is set to visit the University of Alabama’s Tuscaloosa campus this coming weekend, further solidifying his commitment to the Crimson Tide. His decision marks a significant win for Alabama’s recruitment efforts as they bolster their roster with high-caliber talent. As the college football landscape continues to evolve, Thomalla’s commitment is certainly one to watch in the coming years.
