Miami Secures Transfer Commitment from Top FCS Running Back

Miami Hurricanes Sign Running Back CharMar Brown from North Dakota State

Miami, FL – The Miami Hurricanes have secured a significant addition to their roster with the commitment of CharMar Brown, a former running back from North Dakota State University, following his swift entry into the transfer portal just a day prior. The Omaha, Nebraska native won an FCS national championship last season while leading the Bison’s rushing attack, marking a standout year that solidified his reputation.

In the 2024 season, Brown made headlines as a redshirt freshman by capturing the prestigious Jerry Rice Award, given to the top freshman in the FCS. He was also recognized as a Freshman All-American and a second-team all-league selection in the Missouri Valley Conference. Over 16 games, Brown accumulated an impressive 1,181 rushing yards and scored 15 touchdowns, becoming the first NDSU running back in seven years to surpass 1,000 rushing yards in a season.

His season accolades included a remarkable performance against Towson, where he rushed for 126 yards and three touchdowns in a single game. His statistics highlight his effectiveness, with 758 yards gained after contact and 51 forced missed tackles, earning him an 89.5 rushing grade, the tenth-best among qualified FCS running backs.

At Miami, Brown will join a running back group that features Mark Fletcher and Jordan Lyle, who were already contending for top positions on the depth chart. Fletcher previously served as the backup to Damien Martinez, rushing for 607 yards and nine touchdowns last season.

As the Hurricanes look to rebuild their offensive unit, Brown’s arrival adds depth and talent to the backfield, positioning him as a strong candidate for the starting running back role next season.
