Alabama Men’s Tennis Team Celebrates Academic Excellence
TUSCALOOSA, Ala. – In a remarkable showcase of academic achievement, eight members of the Alabama men’s tennis team have been named to the Intercollegiate Tennis Association (ITA) Scholar-Athlete Team, as announced on Monday. The honorees include Enzo Aguiard, Zach Foster, Roan Jones, Matic Kriznik, Damien Nezar, Filip Planinsek, Brendan Loh, and Andrii Zimnokh.
Zach Foster is particularly noteworthy, achieving this accolade for the fourth consecutive year. This achievement reflects his commitment to both tennis and academics, maintaining a GPA of 3.5 or higher throughout the academic year. Roan Jones also reached a milestone with his third selection to the ITA Scholar-Athlete Team. Meanwhile, Aguiard and Planinsek closed out their collegiate careers as two-time recipients of the honor, while Zimnokh earned his second recognition in consecutive years. Nezar, Kriznik, and Loh are celebrated for their first-time honors.
In addition to individual accolades, the Alabama team has been recognized on the ITA All-Academic Team list for the 13th year running, exemplifying the team’s collective academic prowess with a remarkable GPA of 3.62 in the fall and 3.78 in the spring semester.
Under the guidance of head coach George Husack, Alabama has accumulated a total of 72 ITA Scholar-Athlete honors since his tenure began. The consistent recognition reflects the program’s dedication to fostering both athletic skill and academic excellence.
With this year’s achievements, Alabama’s men’s tennis team not only highlights its competitors on the court but also exemplifies the importance of balancing education and athletics, setting a high standard for future student-athletes.
