Alabama Sports Hall of Fame Inducts Legendary Athletes in 2025 Class
BIRMINGHAM, AL – The Alabama Sports Hall of Fame will celebrate its 57th annual induction ceremony on Saturday, honoring eight remarkable athletes who have left an indelible mark on sports in the Yellowhammer State. Mark Ingram, the 2009 Heisman Trophy winner and Alabama football standout, leads a prestigious class of inductees.
Ingram, who propelled the University of Alabama to a national championship and became the school’s first Heisman winner, had an illustrious 12-year NFL career, earning three Pro Bowl selections and amassing 10,236 total yards. He is the first player from Coach Nick Saban’s era to be inducted.
Alongside Ingram, tennis pioneer Roberta Alison Baumgardner will also be honored. As the first female athlete to receive a scholarship at Alabama, she compiled a remarkable 39-14 record while winning back-to-back women’s singles collegiate championships in 1962 and 1963.
Track and field legend Otis Davis, who broke the 400-meter world record and secured two gold medals at the 1960 Rome Olympics, will be inducted. His legacy includes influential roles in coaching and education across the U.S. and Germany.
The class features other noteworthy inductees: NBA All-Star Mike Mitchell, former Steelers defensive coordinator Keith Butler, Saints Hall of Famer Frank Warren, MLB veteran Butch Moore, and PGA Champion Jason Dufner.
Each inductee exemplifies the spirit and athletic prowess that Alabama cherishes. As their contributions are celebrated, the Hall of Fame continues to inspire future generations of athletes in Alabama and beyond.
