Sheridan Dirk Fogle, 54, has been charged with murder in connection to the disappearance and death of Penni Whiteside, a 51-year-old woman who went missing in May 2022. Whiteside’s remains were found buried under a firepit in the yard of a South Carolina home where she had been living with Fogle. The exact relationship between Whiteside and Fogle is unknown. After receiving statements from neighbors, police conducted a search and discovered her remains buried in the backyard on June 12, although the cause of death has not been disclosed. Fogle was arrested and is currently being held at the J. Reuben Long Detention Center in Horry County with no bail set. It is unclear at this time if he has legal representation or when his next court appearance will be. The Myrtle Beach Police Department described the crime as a “senseless crime of violence” and asked for continued prayers for Whiteside’s family and friends. The case is still under investigation as authorities work to uncover more details surrounding the tragic incident.
