A man was shot and killed in an east Birmingham neighborhood on Friday afternoon, marking the city’s 129th homicide of the year. The victim, whose identity has not been released, was found dead inside a shed behind an abandoned house on Fourth Avenue North. Police believe the shooting occurred during a dispute between the victim and another visitor at the residence he was visiting. The suspect fired several shots, causing the victim to run just over a block before collapsing in the shed. Investigators are currently seeking any information that could lead to the arrest of the suspect. This incident adds to the alarming rate of violence in Birmingham, with a total of 129 homicides recorded in the city alone, and a total of 163 homicides in all of Jefferson County this year.
