Rams Sign Undrafted Rookie Decarius Hawthorne
Los Angeles, CA – The Los Angeles Rams have announced the signing of defensive tackle Decarius Hawthorne to a one-year contract. The team made the announcement on Tuesday, bringing the undrafted rookie onto their roster.
Hawthorne, a native of Alabama, previously played for the University of South Florida after transferring from Florida Atlantic University (FAU), where he spent four seasons. His journey began at Center Point High School, where he stood out as a second-team All-State selection in 2019, not as a defensive lineman but as an offensive lineman.
Last month, Hawthorne had the opportunity to showcase his abilities at a tryout during the Buffalo Bills’ rookie minicamp, although he was not signed by the team. His signing with the Rams marks a significant step in his professional football career.
With Hawthorne’s addition, he becomes the second undrafted rookie from an Alabama high school to join the Rams this offseason. Earlier, the Rams also signed outside linebacker Jamil Muhammad from James Clemens High School in Madison, further demonstrating their commitment to tapping into local talent.
