Auburn Baseball Faces Stetson in NCAA Tournament Showdown at Plainsman Park
AUBURN, AL – Auburn baseball returns to Plainsman Park tonight to face Stetson in the NCAA tournament regional, with first pitch set for 8 p.m. Following Central Connecticut’s elimination by NC State, which ended in a decisive 12-0 loss, the Wolfpack will await the loser of the Auburn-Stetson matchup for a must-win game on Sunday.
In the ongoing game, Auburn leads Stetson 5-3 as the seventh inning unfolds. The Tigers have put themselves in a solid position with timely hits and defensive plays. Notably, Eric Snow’s single led to an error from Stetson, placing two Tigers on base. Meanwhile, Cooper McMurray’s walk has also contributed to Auburn’s offensive push.
The sixth inning saw both teams struggle offensively, with Auburn managing to maintain its lead. Earlier, in the fifth inning, the Tigers secured a double play that kept Stetson at bay while increasing their lead to 5-2 after a significant double from Snow that sent McMurray home.
In turn, Stetson managed to score two runs in the fourth inning, narrowing Auburn’s lead to 4-3. However, Sam Dutton’s stellar pitching and timely defensive plays helped the Tigers stay ahead.
Auburn started strong in the second inning, taking a 2-0 lead assisted by doubles from Eric Snow and Bub Terrell. Dutton, with impressive strikeouts, has been instrumental in minimizing runs for Stetson.
