Lipscomb Bisons Claim Atlantic Sun Conference Tournament Championship
Lipscomb’s Joe Anderson led the way with 23 points, 12 of which came in the final four minutes, to help the Bisons secure a 76-65 victory over North Alabama in the Atlantic Sun Conference tournament championship. The win also earned Lipscomb an automatic berth into the NCAA Tournament.
After finishing tied with North Alabama for the regular season championship, Lipscomb, the No. 1 tournament seed, needed overtime to defeat Queens in the semifinals. North Alabama, seeded second, defeated Jacksonville to reach the final.
In a back-and-forth game, Lipscomb took control in the final minutes thanks to Anderson’s clutch shooting. Anderson was supported by Will Pruitt, who finished with 17 points, and Gyasi Powell, who added 16 points. Jacob Ognacevic contributed 14 points and nine rebounds to the winning effort.
North Alabama’s Jacari Lane and Corneilous Williams led their team with 18 and 15 points, respectively. Despite a strong effort, the Lions were unable to overcome Lipscomb’s late-game surge.
With the win, Lipscomb clinched the conference championship and a spot in the NCAA Tournament. The Bisons will now prepare to compete on a national stage as they aim to continue their successful season.
