Tragedy Strikes Birmingham as Boating Day Ends in Fatal Shooting
BIRMINGHAM, AL – A day of leisurely boating turned tragic Saturday evening when a juvenile male was fatally shot in the Birmingham area. Authorities from the Birmingham Police Department reported that they were alerted by the Jefferson County Sheriff’s Office at approximately 8:10 p.m. regarding a shooting in the 8600 block of Birmingport Road, located in far west Birmingham near Mulga.
Upon arrival, police found the victim unresponsive inside a vehicle, suffering from an apparent gunshot wound. Birmingport Fire and Rescue pronounced the individual dead at the scene.
Investigators revealed that the victim was among a group of individuals known to each other who had been participating in recreational boating activities before the incident.
