Alabama’s summer recruiting streak continued with the addition of four-star prospect Justin Hill, a top edge rusher from Cincinnati. Hill chose Alabama over Ohio State, Oregon, and USC, surprising many who had considered Ohio State the favorite. Hill’s versatile skills on the field make him a great fit for the “wolf” position at Alabama, with the potential to also play at off-ball linebacker. His commitment adds to Alabama’s already strong recruiting class, which includes players from 10 different states and is ranked No. 2 in the country.
Ohio State, on the other hand, missed out on Hill, a blow to their defensive line class plans. While still holding the top-ranked recruiting class with multiple top-100 recruits, losing Hill means they will need to focus on other defensive linemen targets. The Buckeyes will now turn their attention to other recruits, such as edge rusher Damien Shanklin and linebacker Riley Pettijohn, to help fill the gap left by missing out on Hill.
In the competitive world of college football recruiting, every commitment and loss makes an impact on the overall class rankings and team dynamics. Ohio State will need to regroup and focus on securing other top prospects to maintain their position as a recruiting powerhouse, while Alabama continues to strengthen their roster with top talent from across the country.
