Nicholas Carter, 31, was found guilty of assaulting a 14-month-old child in Maine and attempted to flee the courthouse in Skowhegan while still handcuffed. Despite his efforts, two jurors and a detective quickly caught up to him and apprehended him. Videos of the incident show Carter racing down a hallway, evading a person trying to block him, and running across a parking lot before tripping and falling in a yard where he was captured. The incident unfolded after a three-day trial at the Somerset County Superior Courthouse. Carter’s sentencing for the aggravated assault conviction will take place in the coming weeks.
