Jimbo Fisher Expresses Strong Interest in Returning to Coaching

Jimbo Fisher Open to Coaching Return After ACC Network Stint

Jimbo Fisher, celebrated for leading Florida State to a national championship in 2014, is exploring a potential return to college football coaching following his recent tenure as an analyst for the ACC Network. Fisher’s time at Texas A&M, which concluded in 2023 with his firing, lacked the success he previously enjoyed, prompting speculation about his future.

In a candid conversation on former Florida State fullback Freddie Stevenson’s podcast, "TRIALS to TRIUMPH," Fisher expressed his enduring passion for coaching. “I still love it. I never thought of it as a job,” he shared. With a strong track record, boasting a 72% win rate and impressive postseason performances, Fisher is eager to get back into the game if the right opportunity arises.

His tenure at Texas A&M began promisingly, culminating in a 9-1 record and a No. 5 national ranking in 2020. However, successive seasons saw a decline, including a disappointing 5-7 finish in 2022—the program’s lowest win total since 2008. Fisher’s dismissal followed a lackluster 2023 season start.

Though many viewed Fisher as a natural fit for the recently vacant West Virginia coaching position, the role ultimately went to former head coach Rich Rodriguez. Despite this setback, Fisher remains hopeful about finding a suitable role. "I’m 59, still in great shape. I’ve had success everywhere," he asserted, emphasizing his potential for impact in a new coaching environment.

As Fisher navigates this transitional phase, his desire to return to the sidelines may yet lead him to a new chapter in his storied coaching career.
