Former Philadelphia Eagles offensive lineman Jason Kelce will not face charges for smashing a fan’s cellphone outside of Penn State University’s Beaver Stadium last month. The altercation allegedly started when a fan used a slur against Kelce’s brother, Kansas City Chiefs tight end Travis Kelce. Social media videos showed Kelce holding beer outside the stadium, confronted by a fan who used a homophobic slur against Travis. Kelce then grabbed the man’s phone, smashed it, and repeated the slur back at him before walking away. The man later chased after Kelce asking for his phone back. Despite the incident being caught on video, the individual involved has not been identified and no complaints about damage to personal property have been filed with University Police. Kelce apologized on ESPN, admitting he reacted poorly in the heat of the moment and chose to respond to hate with hate. Since retiring last season, Kelce has worked as a commentator for ESPN, who declined to comment on the incident.
