Mitchell described Hobson as a “freaky, athletic, big dude” and a “good football player” who had not received much attention for college football recruitment. However, Hobson’s journey took an unexpected turn when he joined Alabama football’s 2025 roster as a 6-foot-5, 255-pound tight end, a position he had not played before.
Despite being relatively unknown, Hobson caught the attention of college recruiters, eventually committing to Mississippi State before transferring to South Alabama and then eventually landing at Alabama. Mitchell spoke highly of Hobson’s skills and potential impact in Alabama’s tight end room, noting that he had the talent to make a significant contribution.
While Hobson’s journey has had its challenges, including leaving South Alabama for undisclosed reasons, Mitchell remains supportive of the young athlete. As Hobson prepares to make his mark at Alabama, Mitchell is excited to see him have another opportunity to shine.
