Honda’s latest Alabama-made models are defined by their ruggedness

The Honda Alabama Auto Plant recently celebrated the launch of the all-new 2026 Passport and Passport TrailSport SUVs, emphasizing the strength of Alabama’s manufacturing workforce. The new vehicles are said to be the most off-road capable SUVs Honda has ever produced, with the Passport TrailSport being dubbed the “ultimate adventure vehicle.” These SUVs are exclusively built at the 4.9-million-square-foot Alabama facility.

The production of the fourth-generation Passport lineup required Honda employees to implement new production technologies and processes, including creating a high-quality SUV that is easier to build. The Passport comes in three primary trim levels and features a 3.5-liter DOHC V-6 engine, built at the engine plant in Lincoln, as well as the first 10-speed automatic transmission.

The facility also produces the Pilot SUV, Odyssey minivan, and Ridgeline pickup, with an annual capacity to produce more than 340,000 vehicles and V6 engines. The Honda Alabama Auto Plant has produced over 6.5 million vehicles since production began in 2001.

The Secretary of the Alabama Department of Commerce praised Honda for its role in driving economic growth and job creation in the state for over two decades. Overall, the launch of the new Passport models showcases the deep expertise and dedication of the Honda Alabama workforce as they continue to bring high-quality vehicles to drivers across the country.
