Harris delivers speech in Milwaukee at DNC 2024 as ceremonial roll call officially nominates her; Obamas set to speak to delegates | Democratic National Convention 2024

Former President Barack Obama is set to deliver a keynote speech on the second night of the Democratic national convention. The theme of the evening will be “A Bold Vision for America’s Future.” Before Obama speaks, there will be remarks from other top Democrats including Michelle Obama, Bernie Sanders, and Chuck Schumer. A ceremonial roll call will take place with state delegations announcing their support for Kamala Harris as the nominee and Tim Walz as her running mate.

The convention is scheduled to run from 5.30pm to after 10pm. Obama is expected to endorse Harris strongly in his speech. Other speakers include congressmen like Gary Peters and Tammy Duckworth, as well as Angela Alsobrooks, Stephanie Grisham, a former press secretary under Trump, and religious leaders like Rabbi Sharon Brous and Imam Talib M Shareef.

There were reports of long lines outside the United Center in Chicago for the convention, with media access being a concern. Despite some logistical issues, support for Harris and Walz has remained strong. Pennsylvania Governor Josh Shapiro announced their state’s support for Harris, noting their pride in casting votes for the first female President of the United States.

Celebrities like Spike Lee and rapper Lil Jon made appearances at the convention, showing their support for the Democratic ticket. There were also protesters present, voicing their views on abortion and LGBTQ+ rights. Overall, the night is set to be a showcase of Democratic unity and their vision for the future of America.
