‘Governor’ Tuberville Hosts Third Annual Alabama Prayer Breakfast on Capitol Hill

Senator Tuberville Hosts Third Annual Alabama Prayer Breakfast in Washington, D.C.

U.S. Senator Tommy Tuberville (R-Auburn) welcomed lawmakers and guests to the third annual Alabama Prayer Breakfast on Wednesday at the Russell Senate Office Building. The event featured six members of Alabama’s congressional delegation, including Senators Tuberville and Katie Britt (R-Montgomery), and Representatives Barry Moore (R-Enterprise), Robert Aderholt (R-Haleyville), Gary Palmer (R-Hoover), and Terri Sewell (D-Birmingham).

Senator Tuberville opened the program with a heartfelt tribute to the late Rev. Chette Williams, the beloved Auburn football team chaplain who passed away in December. A small table adorned with an Auburn football helmet and a rose served as a memorial for Williams, who was set to speak at the breakfast.

Amid announcements about his campaign for the Alabama governorship in 2026, Tuberville expressed his desire to spend more time in the state. In a lighthearted moment, Representative Sewell humorously referred to him as “governor” before correcting herself, highlighting a spirit of camaraderie among the attendees.

The congressional delegation emphasized unity throughout their remarks, a notable contrast to the recent partisanship in Washington. Representative Palmer remarked, “Think what a blessing we could be to this nation and to the world if we were all united in Jesus Christ.” Sewell echoed this sentiment, emphasizing the state’s collective strength despite its small representation in Congress.

Senator Britt concluded the gathering with a call to prayer, leading attendees in the recitation of the Lord’s Prayer. The event showcased a strong message of collaboration and faith within Alabama’s political community.
