In a series of transactions by the Atlanta Falcons, linebacker Rashaan Evans found himself on the outside looking in ahead of Sunday’s game against the Carolina Panthers. The Falcons reinstated linebacker Nate Landman to their active roster after he spent four weeks on injured reserve. Landman will be filling in for Troy Andersen, who is out with a knee injury.
To make room for Landman, the Falcons released cornerback Kevin King, who was then signed to the practice squad and elevated to active status for Sunday’s game. This move resulted in the release of Evans, who had joined the Falcons’ practice squad earlier in October. Evans had been out of the NFL since December 2023 when he was waived by the Dallas Cowboys.
Evans, a former first-round draft pick out of Alabama, played four seasons with the Tennessee Titans before signing with the Falcons in 2022. He was the Alabama Sports Writers Association’s Class 6A Lineman of the Year in high school and a first-team All-American selection in college.
Despite his accolades, Evans had a tumultuous journey back to the NFL, with stints on various practice squads before landing with the Falcons. This latest move leaves his future in the league uncertain, but Evans remains determined to continue his professional football career. For more NFL coverage, visit AL.com’s NFL page.
