Former 5-star edge rusher Da’Shawn Womack reportedly transfers from LSU to Ole Miss

Da’Shawn Womack, a former 5-star prospect in the class of 2023, is set to continue his college football career at Ole Miss after signing with the Rebels. Originally from Baltimore, Womack was highly touted as the No. 36 overall prospect and No. 6 edge rusher in his class. Despite his elite pedigree, he never made a significant impact at LSU, recording 21 tackles, 3 tackles for loss, and 2.5 sacks in two years with the Tigers.

Now, Womack will join a growing list of transfers at Ole Miss, a program that has emerged as a popular destination for players looking for a fresh start. Under head coach Lane Kiffin, the Rebels have taken in over 20 transfers, including standout defensive linemen like Walter Nolen and Princely Umanmielen who had an impressive 2024 season with a combined 27 tackles for loss and 17 sacks.

Looking ahead to the upcoming season, Ole Miss will aim to build on their 9-3 record from last year and make a run at the College Football Playoff. Despite falling short of their goals in 2024 with losses to Kentucky, LSU, and Florida, the Rebels have high hopes for the future with the addition of Womack and other talented transfers on their roster.
