Florida rallies in second half to secure comeback victory against Vanderbilt

The Florida Gators bounced back from a tough loss to Tennessee, defeating Vanderbilt with a score of 86-75. Despite missing star point guard Walter Clayton Jr. due to a sprained ankle, the Gators were able to rely on strong performances from Will Richards and Alex Condon. Denzel Aberdeen stepped up in Clayton’s absence, contributing 13 points and playing a turnover-free game.

Although guard Alijah Martin briefly left the game with a left hip injury, Florida’s offense continued to run smoothly, shooting over 57% from the field. Vanderbilt struggled with their shooting, particularly from 3-point range and the free-throw line. Leading scorer Jason Edwards wasn’t able to carry the Commodores to victory as they suffered their fourth consecutive road loss.

Looking ahead, Florida will face off against No. 1 Auburn on Saturday, while Vanderbilt will host Texas. The Gators will be aiming to continue their winning momentum and climb up the rankings, while Vanderbilt will be seeking to turn their road game struggles around. Despite the challenges they faced in their recent game, the Gators showed resilience and depth in their lineup, ensuring they remain a competitive force in the SEC.
