The opening game of the 2024 World Series between the New York Yankees and Los Angeles Dodgers was filled with major drama. With the score tied 2-2 in the top of the ninth inning, a controversial play occurred when a fan caught a ball hit by Gleyber Torres that appeared to be a home run, but was ruled fan interference after review. The fan was escorted out of Dodger Stadium by security. The Dodgers went on to win the game 6-3 on a walk-off home run by Freddie Freeman in the bottom of the 10th inning. Dodgers manager Dave Roberts described it as one of the greatest baseball moments he had ever witnessed. Game 2 is set for Saturday night with the Yankees starting left-hander Carlos Rodón and the Dodgers starting rookie right-hander Yoshinobu Yamamoto.
