Atlanta Falcons Sign Jashaun Corbin, Release Jase McClellan
The Atlanta Falcons are shaking things up in their running back lineup with a notable addition. On Tuesday, the team announced the signing of Jashaun Corbin, who recently led the United Football League (UFL) in rushing. To accommodate Corbin, the Falcons have released running back Jase McClellan.
McClellan, a sixth-round pick out of Alabama in 2024, had a promising college career totaling 890 rushing yards and 8 touchdowns in his final season. Unfortunately, his rookie season in the NFL was cut short due to a knee injury, limiting him to just 19 offensive snaps.
Corbin, 24, capitalized on his opportunity in the UFL, where he showcased his skills by rushing for 514 yards on 97 carries, averaging an impressive 5.3 yards per carry over ten games. Before his time in the UFL, he played at Texas A&M and Florida State, and he briefly spent time with the New York Giants as an undrafted rookie in 2023, where he recorded three receptions and one rush. Corbin also had a stint on the Carolina Panthers’ practice squad and was on the Giants’ roster at the beginning of the 2024 season before being placed on Injured Reserve in August.
With the Falcons already featuring standout running backs Bijan Robinson and Tyler Allgeier, the addition of Corbin may bring fresh competition among the less proven backs on the roster, including Carlos Washington Jr., Elijah Dotson, and Nathan Carter. The team’s decision to bring Corbin into the mix reflects their willingness to enhance depth as they prepare for the upcoming season.
