ESPN’s Football Power Index (FPI) has released its predictions for the upcoming Gasparilla Bowl matchup between the Tulane Green Wave and Florida Gators. The model gives Florida a slight edge, with a 54.2% chance of winning compared to Tulane’s 45.8%. Both teams had successful seasons in 2024, with Tulane finishing 9-4 and Florida ending with a 7-5 record. Tulane exceeded expectations under head coach Jon Sumrall, reaching the conference championship game, while Florida earned bowl eligibility despite a tough schedule.
In terms of offense and defense, Tulane has the advantage over Florida. The Green Wave rank 41st in total offense and 13th in total defense, while the Gators rank 81st and 91st in those categories, respectively.
