Kentucky faced a setback in its 2025 recruiting cycle as top player Acaden Lewis de-committed from the program. Lewis, ranked as the No. 5 point guard in the class of 2025 by 247Sports, cited his decision as what’s best for his future. Despite initially committing to the Wildcats in November, Lewis felt the need to re-open his recruitment. He expressed gratitude towards Coach Mark Pope and the Kentucky staff, emphasizing that his decision was not a reflection of any negative feelings towards the program.
Following Lewis’s de-commitment, Kentucky is left with two high school players already pledged for the 2025 class, including guard Jasper Johnson and big man Malachi Moreno. Both players are highly rated nationally. In addition, the Wildcats have secured four transfers into the program: center Jayden Quaintance from Arizona State, forward Mo Dioubate from Alabama, point guard Jaland Lowe from Pitt, and small forward Kam Williams from Tulane. Lowe, who committed on Saturday, is expected to fill an immediate starter role at the point guard position for Kentucky.
Despite the setback with Lewis, Kentucky remains focused on building a competitive roster for the upcoming season with a blend of incoming high school talent and experienced transfers.
