Corpus Christi, TX – Over 30 students from Texas A&M University-Corpus Christi’s Harte Research Institute engaged in an exciting marine drone demonstration, showcasing the transformative potential of unmanned aerial systems in coastal and marine science. Hosted in downtown Corpus Christi by the National Spill Control School, the event provided hands-on experience in using drone technology for environmental monitoring and emergency response.

Students were immersed in real-world applications, focusing on critical issues such as oil spill response and disaster protocols. Dr. Keith Muhlestein of TAMU-CC emphasized the importance of preparedness for marine accidents, noting that drone technology enables rapid data collection, crucial for assessing environmental damage during emergencies.
