Two Chinese swimmers, Tang Muhan and He Junyi, were cleared by the Chinese Anti-Doping Agency (Chinada) after testing positive for metandienone, with the steroid supposedly coming from a meal at a Beijing restaurant. Wada confirmed the positive tests but cited a wider issue with meat contamination in China.
Usada criticized Wada for allowing China to compete under different rules, accusing them of tilting the playing field. Usada CEO Travis Tygart expressed concern over the public losing faith in the anti-doping system and the Olympic values. However, Wada defended its position, stating that it was unfairly caught in geopolitical tensions and had no mandate to participate in that.
