Alabama Soccer Players Shine on Preseason Watchlists Ahead of 2025 Season
TUSCALOOSA, Ala. – Seven Alabama soccer players have received significant preseason recognition as the Southeastern Conference (SEC), United Soccer Coaches, and TopDrawerSoccer unveiled their watchlists for the upcoming 2025 season. Senior Gianna Paul leads the pack, earning a position on all three lists.
Paul, a three-time SEC Preseason Watchlist honoree, also secured a spot on the United Soccer Coaches’ Players to Watch – Forwards List, alongside Larkin Thomason, a Mercer transfer and recent SoCon Player of the Year. In the 2024 season, Paul was pivotal for the Crimson Tide, scoring 12 goals and achieving First Team All-SEC honors, ranking her 27th nationally for goals scored.
Joining Paul on the SEC Preseason Watchlist are Kiley Kukan, Leah Kunde, Maddie Padelski, Nadia Ramadan, and Melina Rebimbas. This marks the second consecutive year for Kunde, Ramadan, and Rebimbas on the watchlist, with Kukan and Padelski receiving their first nominations after impressive freshman seasons.
Ramadan led the team in assists last season with five and contributed to the offense with seven goals, while Kunde was crucial in midfield, tallying one goal and three assists. Rebimbas, who missed part of last season due to injury, proved vital defensively, helping secure four shutouts and scoring against Florida.
Padelski, despite competing with the U.S. U17 FIFA World Cup Team, made her mark with two goals and two assists, ranking fifth on the team in points. Kukan’s efforts earned her a spot on the SEC All-Freshman Team as she tied for third in goals with three.
With a strong lineup of talent, Alabama soccer looks poised for a competitive 2025 campaign.
