A judge in New York ruled against independent presidential candidate Robert F. Kennedy Jr.’s attempt to appear on the state’s general election ballot this fall. The ruling, made by New York Supreme Court Justice Christina Ryba, invalidated Kennedy’s nominating petition and directed the Board of Elections not to include his name on the official ballot. The decision was based on a lawsuit filed by a Democratic-aligned group questioning the New York address Kennedy claimed as his residence on the ballot access petition forms. Kennedy, who currently lives in California with his wife, actor Cheryl Hines, testified that they had always planned to return to New York. The Kennedy campaign has not yet commented on the ruling. This is a developing story and updates will be provided as they become available.
