Cochran adds ex-Alabama players to staff | Sports

The University of West Alabama football program has made an exciting addition to their coaching staff by hiring former Alabama Crimson Tide football players Ronnie Clark and Blake Sims. Clark will be the running backs coach, while Sims will serve as the wide receivers coach, marking their first collegiate coaching positions.

During his time at Alabama from 2014-2018, Clark played multiple positions and was known for his leadership qualities. He won two National Championships and was praised for his energy and coaching abilities by head coach Scott Cochran. After playing, Clark gained high school coaching experience before joining the UWA staff.

Sims, a former quarterback turned wide receiver, enjoyed a successful career at Alabama, winning two National Championships and earning All-SEC Second Team honors. Cochran highlighted Sims’ off-field qualities, including his energy and enthusiasm for player development. After playing in the CFL and the NFL, Sims also has high school coaching experience.

Both coaches bring a wealth of experience and a winning mentality to the UWA program, with their transition to coaching expected to have a positive impact on the players. With their combination of on-field success and coaching potential, Clark and Sims are set to make a significant contribution to the team as they work to build upon the program’s history of success.
