Clemson Secures Commitment from Highly-Ranked Edge Defender Dre Quinn
Clemson University has bolstered its 2026 recruiting class by landing a commitment from Dre Quinn, a highly-touted edge defender from Buford, Georgia. The 6-foot-4, 228-pound prospect made his announcement during a live stream on the On3 YouTube channel, after a whirlwind three-week period that included official visits to Clemson, Georgia, and Texas.
Following his visit to Texas, Quinn canceled future official visits, indicating a strong preference for the Tigers. "When I first went there, I felt the home feeling," Quinn shared after his commitment. He noted the welcoming atmosphere and the strong sense of community among the players, emphasizing Clemson’s commitment to faith and life beyond football as compelling factors in his decision.
Quinn’s relationship with Clemson began last fall when he attended a game against Louisville and received an offer from head coach Dabo Swinney shortly after. Since then, the Tigers have been persistent in their pursuit of the promising defensive player.
Rated as a 4-star recruit by the 247 Composite, Quinn is recognized as the 26th-best edge defender and the 29th-ranked player from Georgia in his class. During his junior season, he recorded an impressive 42 tackles, 9.5 tackles for loss, and 2.5 sacks over 11 games, showcasing his versatility by playing both defense and offense as a wide receiver.
With Quinn’s commitment, Clemson now has 19 known enlistments in the 2026 cycle, positioning them sixth nationally in the rankings. Quinn becomes the 13th blue-chip recruit to join the Tigers’ growing class, solidifying Clemson’s status as a formidable player in college football recruiting.
