Terry Adirim, the former director of the CIA’s Center for Global Health Services, is suing the agency after her abrupt firing, which she claims violated her due process rights and was influenced by far-right activists. Adirim was hired following her role as assistant secretary of defense for health affairs during the Covid-19 pandemic. Just days into her new role, conservative commentator Ivan Raiklin accused her of being the mastermind behind the Defense Department’s Covid-19 vaccine mandate for military personnel.
Adirim’s lawsuit alleges that her hiring had not yet been publicly announced, suggesting that someone within the CIA leaked her information to Raiklin, a vocal opponent of the vaccine. Raiklin, linked to former National Security Adviser Michael Flynn, has been an outspoken critic of the vaccine, referring to it as a “DNA-mutilation injection” and advocating for punitive actions against officials involved in the mandate.
The lawsuit details that Adirim was fired shortly after receiving a positive message from the CIA’s chief operating officer about her career prospects, and just two days after far-right figure Lara Loomer visited the White House, calling for the dismissal of several national security officials. Loomer later claimed responsibility for the firing of NSA Director Gen. Timothy Haugh.
Adirim’s attorney, Kevin Carroll, stated that they are seeking damages for violations of her privacy and employment contract, and claim to prove that Raiklin and Loomer collaborated to facilitate her termination. The CIA has not formally responded to the lawsuit.
