China pledges to resist until the end if Trump increases tariffs to 104%

China has declared that it will “fight to the end” if President Trump imposes an additional 50% tariff on Chinese goods, which would bring the total tariffs on Chinese imports to as much as 104%. This response comes as many countries rush to negotiate trade deals with the United States. The Chinese Ministry of Commerce has firmly opposed Trump’s tariff threats, calling its previous countermeasures justified. They warned that if the U.S. proceeds with the additional tariffs, China will fight back. The Ministry of Foreign Affairs did not immediately respond to requests for comment on Trump’s threat.

Trump had threatened the new 50% duty on China if Beijing did not withdraw its 34% tariffs on all U.S. goods by a certain date. He also announced the termination of talks with China and the initiation of negotiations with other countries. Beijing’s retaliatory tariffs are set to take effect soon. The Chinese commerce ministry urged the U.S. to cancel unilateral tariff measures and resolve disputes through dialogue, stating that pressure and threats are not the right approach.

Furthermore, Trump suggested that China could receive tariff reductions if they approve a deal to sell TikTok’s U.S. operations. He claimed that China backed out of the deal due to the new tariffs he announced. However, ByteDance, the owner of TikTok, stated that negotiations with the U.S. government are ongoing and no agreement has been reached.
