China has declared that it will “fight to the end” if President Trump imposes an additional 50% tariff on Chinese goods, which would bring the total tariffs on Chinese imports to as much as 104%. Furthermore, Trump suggested that China could receive tariff reductions if they approve a deal to sell TikTok’s U.S. operations. He claimed that China backed out of the deal due to the new tariffs he announced. However, ByteDance, the owner of TikTok, stated that negotiations with the U.S. government are ongoing and no agreement has been reached.
