Tragic Car Crash Claims Life of Child, Injures Five in Blountsville
Blountsville, AL – A tragic car accident on Friday evening resulted in the death of a 10-year-old child and left five others injured near Blountsville. The incident involved a 2009 Honda Civic, which was carrying two 10-year-olds and a 15-year-old, and a 2007 Ford Explorer.
According to the Alabama Law Enforcement Agency (ALEA), the collision occurred on Blount County 55 when the Honda struck the Ford. Despite immediate medical attention, one of the 10-year-old passengers from the Honda Civic later succumbed to their injuries at a local hospital. "The 10-year-old was transported to a local hospital for medical treatment, where the child later succumbed to injuries," ALEA confirmed in a statement.
The Ford Explorer, driven by 67-year-old Richard E. Rucker, Jr. and his 60-year-old passenger, Annette Dean Clark Rucker, both residents of Addison, sustained injuries and were transported to Cullman Regional Medical Center for further treatment.
Tabbatha Shanae Christine Jackson, 34, the driver of the Honda Civic, along with the surviving minors, were also taken to the hospital for evaluation. The nature of their injuries has not been disclosed, although officials confirmed that they are receiving medical care.
An ongoing investigation by state troopers with ALEA is looking into the circumstances surrounding the crash.
