In an engaging new campaign, Cash App has enlisted the star power of Timothée Chalamet, marking his debut collaboration with a financial service brand. Known for his recent role as a young Bob Dylan in "A Complete Unknown," Chalamet stars in a two-minute cinematic ad that creatively explores generational divides in financial discussions through the lens of a “rare vegetable” store.
Directed by Aidan Zamiri and Elijah Bynum, both previous collaborators with Chalamet, the ad aims to foster open conversations about money among different age groups, aligning with Cash App’s vision of engaging audiences in a fresh, authentic manner. "We wanted to give Timothée a platform to encourage open conversations around money," said Catherine Ferdon, Chief Marketing Officer at Cash App.
The campaign debuted in U.S. theaters this summer, strategically placed ahead of major blockbusters like "Superman" and the upcoming "Fantastic Four: First Steps." Such placements target millennial and Gen Z audiences, as well as their families, reinforcing the campaign’s focus on financial literacy and dialogue among different generations.
In addition to its theatrical presence, Cash App is amplifying the campaign across social media platforms, actively engaging with Chalamet’s fans. Select superfans who showcased enthusiasm for the campaign received movie tickets, creating a buzz around the promotional efforts.
Outdoor advertising is also planned in key markets like Los Angeles and New York City, with upcoming Chalamet-themed Cash App Card stamps set to roll out in the following months. This collaboration continues Cash App’s trend of partnering with notable celebrities, showcasing the brand’s innovative approach to financial services.
