Moreover, he lamented the failure of elected officials to safeguard citizens from what he described as an “unfit president and a rogue government.”
Despite his criticisms, Springsteen maintained a hopeful tone, affirming that the America he sings about remains a “great country with a great people,” and that they will endure through tough times. The White House quickly responded, dismissing Springsteen’s remarks as unrepresentative of the views of the 77 million Americans who voted for Trump, suggesting he should remain overseas while Americans enjoy the benefits of the administration’s policies.
