Browns QB Shedeur Sanders Ticketed for Going 101 MPH in 60 MPH Zone

Cleveland Browns rookie quarterback Shedeur Sanders was cited for speeding early Tuesday, driving his black Dodge pickup truck at 101 mph in a 60 mph zone, according to police records reported by NBC News. The Strongsville, Ohio Police Department noted that Sanders was pulled over at 12:24 a.m. He has the option to pay a fine or contest the ticket in court on July 3rd.

Sanders, selected in the fifth round of the NFL Draft from Colorado, is competing for the starting quarterback position in Cleveland alongside Kenny Pickett, Joe Flacco, and fellow rookie Dillon Gabriel. During his two seasons at the University of Colorado, he accumulated impressive stats, throwing for 7,364 yards, 64 touchdowns, and only 13 interceptions. Though considered a potential first-round pick for the 2025 NFL Draft, he was ultimately the sixth quarterback selected, leading to criticism from former President Donald Trump, who referred to NFL owners on social media as “stupid” for not drafting him higher.

As he prepares to establish himself in the NFL, Sanders faces not only competition on the field but also the public scrutiny that comes with legal issues off the field. The incident adds to the pressures and challenges he must navigate during his rookie season while striving to secure a starting role with the Browns.
