Birmingham Legion FC has announced the departure of head coach Tom Soehn after the team’s disappointing performance in the 2024 season and a slow start to this year. Soehn, who has been with the franchise since its founding in 2018, was let go in order to move the club forward. In his time as head coach, Soehn led the team to 90 victories and 37 draws in 207 matches. First Team Assistant Eric Avila will take over as interim coach. Legion FC will face El Paso Locomotive at Protective Stadium on Sunday at 4 p.m. Soehn released a statement expressing gratitude to the staff he worked with over the last six years. The club’s Chief Soccer Officer and CEO, Jay Heaps, thanked Soehn for his dedication and hard work but stated that a change was necessary. The decision to part ways with Soehn was a difficult one, but the club is looking to improve performance and results. Fans will be eager to see how the team performs under the new leadership of Avila.
