Authorities are investigating a destructive fire at the GOP headquarters in New Mexico.

Authorities are investigating a fire that damaged the entryway to the headquarters of the Republican Party of New Mexico in Albuquerque. The Bureau of Alcohol Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives recovered “incendiary materials” at the scene but declined to provide further details. This incident follows a series of vandalism and attacks against property associated with Elon Musk’s company, Tesla. Several cases involved Molotov cocktails and have been labeled as domestic terrorism by U.S. Attorney General Pam Bondi.

The fire was quickly extinguished by firefighters and the building was unoccupied at the time, with no injuries reported. The entrance of the building was severely damaged, with extensive smoke damage throughout the office. Authorities are investigating the incident at the federal level, and Mayor Tim Keller condemned the arson as a cowardly act. The New Mexico Republican Party Chair urged anyone with information to report it immediately.

In addition to the fire, spray paint with the message “ICE=KKK” was found on the side of the building, but authorities did not comment on the graffiti. FBI agents were also on the scene to investigate the incident. The Mayor emphasized that politically motivated crimes are unacceptable and praised the quick response of the fire department. The investigation into the incident is ongoing at both the federal and local levels.
