Auburn Softball Advances in Tallahassee Regional After Dramatic Win
Auburn University’s softball team is on the brink of securing a spot in the super regional round after a hard-fought victory against South Florida in the Tallahassee Regional’s second elimination game. Following an earlier defeat to the Bulls, where the Tigers lost 12-7 in extra innings, Auburn avenged that setback by clinching a 7-5 win over USF.
The Tigers were locked in a tense battle, tied 4-4 at the end of the seventh inning. However, in the top of the eighth, Auburn surged ahead with a three-run rally, spurred by standout performances. AnnaLea Adams showcased her prowess at the plate by driving in two crucial runs during this decisive moment. Earlier in the day, Adams had already contributed significantly, bringing in three runs with a 3-for-4 batting performance against Robert Morris.
Nelia Peralta also impressed with two RBIs, contributing with a sacrifice fly and an RBI single. In the circle, SJ Geurin proved to be a key player, limiting USF to just one run over six innings while striking out six batters, after Icess Tresvik struggled in her start.
With this victory, Auburn moves on to face Florida State, needing two wins over the Seminoles to clinch the regional title. The first game is set to begin Sunday at 11 a.m., with a possible second game slated for 1:30 p.m. If victorious, the Tigers will advance to the super regional round, keeping their championship hopes alive.
