Angel City defender Savy King is recovering from heart surgery after collapsing during a National Women’s Soccer League (NWSL) match against the Utah Royals. The incident occurred in the second half, prompting immediate medical attention; King was transported to Cedars-Sinai Medical Center, where doctors identified a heart abnormality that required surgery on Tuesday. The team reported that King is now resting well with her family, and her prognosis is positive.
In a joint statement, King’s family expressed their gratitude towards the Angel City medical staff, her teammates, and the hospital personnel for their support. They emphasized the overwhelming love and support from the community and are looking forward to having her back home soon.
