American Heart Association Launches CPR Training Initiative in North Alabama

HUNTSVILLE, Ala. – The American Heart Association (AHA) is actively working to boost CPR training across North Alabama, with a goal to enhance survival rates for cardiac arrest victims through hands-only CPR education. Stephanie Cline from the AHA emphasized the critical nature of this initiative, stating, "We are working throughout the Huntsville and North Alabama area to ensure people know how easy it is: call 911 and press hard and fast in the center of the chest."

With 70 to 75 percent of cardiac arrests occurring outside of hospitals, Cline highlighted the essential role of public preparedness in saving lives. The AHA is offering free hands-only CPR training sessions for families and groups, aiming to instill confidence and readiness in community members.

In a collaborative effort, schools in Madison County are also joining this life-saving initiative. The AHA has equipped five local schools with CPR training kits, which will allow staff to enhance their emergency response capabilities. Christen Lawrence from the AHA noted, "By placing these kits, we are providing additional access points for community members to learn this lifesaving skill and empowering them to act."

Each CPR training kit includes 10 practice dummies, instructional guides, and videos, ensuring that the information is accessible to all. The AHA’s initiative reflects a commitment to educating the public and improving emergency response, with the hope of equipping more individuals with the vital skill of CPR.
