Singer-songwriter Matthew Sweet recently suffered a stroke while on tour in Toronto, which has left him unable to perform indefinitely. To help with recovery expenses, a GoFundMe page has been set up, as Sweet does not have insurance or touring income. The cost of his care, including transportation back to the U.S. and rehabilitation, is estimated to be close to a quarter of a million dollars. The fundraiser has already raised over $150,000, with support from celebrities like Judd Apatow, John Mayer, and Peter Buck. Sweet’s manager praised his determination and focus, expressing confidence in his ability to recover. Sweet had to cancel a month of shows due to health issues, including opening for Hanson and his own headline dates. He has released over a dozen albums and his most recent was “Catspaw” in 2021. Fans are encouraged to donate to support Sweet’s recovery and help him return to good health.
