53-year-old Tracey Heinfeld of Leeds, Alabama was arrested in Walton County, Florida after driving over two hours to meet a minor for sex. The Walton County Sheriff’s Office responded to a call reporting a minor at a residence in Santa Rosa Beach drinking and smoking. Heinfeld claimed she was there to check on a teenager who was friends with her son, but the juvenile said he was scared of her and showed deputies text messages from Heinfeld stating her intentions. The victim begged Heinfeld not to come and expressed discomfort with her advances.
Heinfeld was charged with using an electronic device to solicit a child, traveling to meet a minor for sex, cyberstalking, and tampering with evidence. She was taken to the Walton County Jail with a $500,000 bond. The case highlights the dangers of online predators targeting minors, and the importance of monitoring children’s online activity. Parents are urged to have open conversations with their children about online safety and report any suspicious behavior to law enforcement.
